PCeU virus remover

Hi guys, my sister is browsing some games and videos for almost two days and she ended up with a PCeU virus. I really don’t know what to do as this virus have locked my the desktop. I know that there are several types of this police ransom Trojan. The specific strain that hits my sister’s PC is Metropolitan Police, Police Central e-crime Unit, Specialist Crime Directorate.

On initial attack, both the computer and Internet went off. Upon restart, good thing both still works, however, PCeU virus already blocks computer. I have contacted some technical shop in your area. They said that the infection had got deeply into the system as well as hard drive. As per recommendation, I need to bring the PC to the shop for repair. I want to know if there are ways to remove the PCeU virus without a costly repair.

Thanks
Kevin

    I’m sure you are referring to a Windows Lock Trojan named Police Cetral e-Crime Unit. No single antivirus program can delete this malware. If you will search the net for solution, you will end up with free tools like Malwarebytes, RoguKiller, or Rescue Disc by Kaspersky. Though, Rescue Disc is the one that has dedicated function to remove PCeU and that is Windows Unlocker. So far, that would be the best free solution I know for this breed of malware.

    Please see this page for more WndowsUnlocker data.

    Restart computer in safe mode (tap F8 continually while booting up) and use system restore; worked fine for me!

    Hi my machine went down yesterday with this! It had gone painfully slow for a few weeks which I understand is part of the symptoms! Anyway, I tried rebooting and it kept coming back so I did a force quit (hold the power button down!) and on restart just held F8 to go in safe mode! Select safe mode with networking and you can get on the net – I then down loaded ‘spybot’ which is free for private users. Takes a while scanning your whole system but bear with it and then click ‘fix’ after the scan, restart your laptop and then it does it again (takes even longer!!) but once complete you hit immunize and you are fixed – its free and takes about an hour! Easy too as I am not that technical!

    DONT BUY ANY ANTIVIRUS FROM ANYWHERE……FOLLOW THESE STEPS
    1 SWITCH LAPTOP/PC ON
    2 HIT F8 NON STOP UNTIL SAFE MODE APPEARS
    3 SELECT USING ARROW KEYS SAFE MODE WITH COMMAND PROMPT
    4 TYPE IN rsturi
    5 SELECT A RESTORE POINT BEFORE THE VIRUS TOOK HOLD
    ONCE YOUR COMPUTER IS RESTORED CHECK YOUR WINDOWS DEFENDER AND FIREWALL SETTINGS
    6 GO TO CONTROL PANEL SELECT INTERNET OPTIONS DELETE HISTORY AND COOKIES
    7 HEY PRESTO!

    dont bother buying the above mentioned anti virus switch your laptop/pc on hit F8 non stop until you see safe mode use your arrow keys to select safe mode with command prompt then type in rsturi select a restore point earlier than you got the virus (few days before) and let system restore run…….when the computer restarts normally again check your firewall and windows defender are on and go to control panel hit internet options then delete cookies and history! all gone!!

    Does anyone know why the command rsturi is not working in my computer? is there any difference if it is a brazilian computer? many thanks,

  9. Simon

    @Francisco – it’s a typo, the command is rstrui

    Rstrui or rsturi dont work on my computer. Any suggestions?

  11. monroe

    @JaySixx,

    Command should be rstrui.

    I don’t know what version of Windows you have. Accessing this feature is almost the same for recent versions. In Windows 7, you can run System Restore using that command. Remember that this is useful only if you have a saved restore point prior to virus infection of Metropolitan Police, Police Central e-crime Unit, also known as PCeU virus. For complete system restore instructions, you may view Microsoft web site here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/products/features/system-restore

    rstrui location is in c:\windows\system32\restore and then rstrui for windows 7

    Thanks Debie & monreo. It really worked for my windows vista. Have been working for two days to remove this virus. BUT the command as corrected by monreo should be “rstrui”

    I’ve tried the above but each time i get to the advanced menu and select the safe mode with command prompt it goes to the next screen which ask’s me to select my operating system. It only has the one option which is windows xp.
    When you select the windows option it starts to run a series of numbers then stops. A blue screen appears saying the computer operation shut down and takes you back to the original advanced menu page.
    I cannot get to the prompt page which allows me to type in the rstrui command to locate an earlier restore point which incidently i know is there back in dec 2012.
    Any ideas on how to resolve this

    Recent versions of this virus start blocking Safe Mode and Command Prompt. So separate bootable drive with AV of your choice can be the way out.
