How to remove Live Security Platinum virus

Hi, my computer is infected with Live Security Platinum virus. During my research, I found out that this is a rogue product. This is the same reason why I want to eliminate its presence. I believe that I acquire Live Security Platinum when I download an infected file of adobe update. I never knew that it was part of the virus because it pop-ups from my system tray. All the while, I thought it was a legitimate adobe update.

Live Security Platinum is very disturbing. It keeps on showing alerts and here are just sample I have recorded.

Live Security Platinum Warning
Spyware.IEMonster process is found. This is virus that is trying to send your passwords from Internet browser (Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Outlook & others) for the third-parties.

Live Security Platinum Warning

We highly recommend to get license for Live Security Scanner to remove harmful software now.

Please tell me how to get rid of this malware. It has now conquered almost every part of my PC. I cannot run my antivirus and other programs. Internet is also blocked. Give me an advice on how to download a tool from my infected computer because I don’t have any other unit to use.

Hi, you can try these steps. I never got infected with Live Security Platinum but its other variant called Security Fortress was removed from my PC using this procedures.

    1. Restart your computer in SafeMode. To proceed, turn off the power, then turn on again and when black screen white text comes out, hit F8 on your keyboard and select SafeMode with networking. This will run Windows with minimal driver so expect that you will have low resolution while in this mode.

    2. Download the following programs. You can search the Internet for the installation of these tools. Obtain it from the official web sites.
    – Combofix (Use with full caution)
    – Malwarebytes Antimalware

    3. You need to install Malwarebytes and update its database.

    4. Run a complete virus scan using the two programs. You must run Combofix first. It will find malicious running process and kill it. Then, run mbam. This tool will detect malware programs. Be sure that you will delete or quarantine all threats they can find.

    5. By now, most of threats causing Live Security Platinum to appear should be gone.

    6. Restart the computer normally, as you usually does. Run another complete scan using the two programs again. If you have an antivirus software, please update it and do a scan with it.

After following those steps, your PC should be fine.

It would be hard to remove Live Security Platinum if it is running in trial mode. I suggest that you first register the program using this code: AA39754E-715219CE

Once it is activated, you can remove the files from the following folders:
    • C:\ProgramData\[RANDOM CHARACTERS]\ Example is Ghdyd6w7hnewdh
    • %UserProfile%\Desktop\Live Security Platinum.lnk
    • %UserProfile%\Start Menu\Programs\Live Security Platinum\
    • %UserProfile%\Start Menu\Programs\Live Security Platinum\Live Security Platinum.lnk

    Also remove this registry entries
    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce “[RANDOM CHARACTERS]”
    • KEY_CURRENT_USER\software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Live Security Platinum\

Run a virus scan afterwards. That should get rid of the malware.

Masky was right, removing Live Security Platinum without enabling the code would be hard. It is very aggressive in blocking Malwarebytes. I cannot even install the tool, so how can I run a scan. With masky’s code, I was able to activate the program. It much cooperative while it is running in full version. Thanks again.

I just opened “Programs and Features” from the Control Panel, found “Live Security Platinum” and clicked “Uninstall/Change” – I’m not sure if it’s completely gone, but it appears so. I hope so!

  5. sincetoday

Kelly, to make sure that the threat do not exists anymore, run a scan using your antivirus program. Please download the most recent update before running a scan. It would be good if you can also run a rootkit scanner like Norton Power Eraser or TDSSKiller. I’m certain that rootkit Trojan is still inside the computer.

  6. Andy

One of my work computers has this. It doesnt show up under programs/files at all. But it shows up under the start > programs> live security platinum.

I have tried malwarebytes and using the camleon updater. Nothing. Didn’t take it off.
I cannot get TDSSKiller to load on the machine. I am going to try Norton Power Eraser.

Do I have to activate it to get it to remove? or uninstall?

  7. Tony

I Picked up this nasty virus on my PC, I never activated the rouge software just in case this made things worse. The way I got rid of it is by starting restarting the computer in safe mode with network. I then downloaded Trojan Killer 2.1 and began the scan whilst still in safe mode. Enough of the virus was removed to restart the PC in normal mode and run my antivirus software which totally cleaned the virus up.

  8. Andy

Working with the Trojan Killer now.. got the license code etc… Running Avast in normal computer mode. Upon start up the file in the start menu was still there. I am hoping Avast kills it good. I go on vacation for a week… So want this computer fixed >.<

    Any help would be appreciated:)

  9. junli

Tony, activating the program will bring back the PC in normal operation. Then, you can start downloading any free removal tools. Believe me, it is better that way than BUYING Trojan Killer. Your are endorsing a program (Trojan Killer) that will scan a computer but will ask a payment before it will remove threats. How does it differ from Live Security Platinum? Both wants user’s money!

This virus just recently popped up on my laptop. I knew the minute it popped up it wasnt one of my own program so I quickly found it under programs then removed. I’m not sure if it was completely removed. I put it in safe mode and ran a program to find any traces of the virus but none was found so hopefully my quick action helped me to save my computer.

  11. Jim

Thanks the activation code allowed my Norton to clean this up.

  12. luke

Hey Masky, i put in the code and its been activated, will i at somepoint wind up having to pay for this? I cant find a way to delete it.

  13. jerome

Luke, it will not prompt you for payment because once you activated it, it is good as purchased already. From there, you can download malwarebytes, tdsskiller, and other scanners to remove Live Security Platinum virus.

You need to run the scan to delete all files and registries that malware has injected to your system. You cannot find any uninstall information to remove this malware from your Control Panel.

  14. Defi McDewo

That virus was not infected through Adobe updater. Its infected through script in google ‘search engine’. Lets try searching from google with key word “pendaftaran secaba tni ad 2012 kodam jaya” then click the 3rd line from search result that ‘mostly’ official site for that searching. Warning when you click that ‘searching result’ the virus script for ‘Live Update Platinum’ will run. It came when new page loading with message “Please wait the page is loading”

    To remove this virus:
    1. forcibly shut down the computer. Disconnected from power source.
    2. Turn on the computer and running it in SAFE MODE (Press F8 then elect safe mode when computer start loading Operating System)
3 When finished loading Windows and the desktop was shown. There is icon for ‘live update platinum’, right click that icon and select ‘find target’ it will lead you to template file and folder in “Document and Setting’
Delete all file and folder in that location. Emptying Recycle Bin, clean registry with registry cleaner tool, try scanning with original Antivirus in your computer (If You have).
Restart the computer, it will run normally without live update scanning process. Recover your file and application one-by-one. Some file(s) maybe was deleted by that virus.
That was my experience 5 day ago…

    @Defi McDewo

Did the exact thing a couple of minutes ago. It works.

  16. John Smith

I cant believe the amount of garbage information on how to remove this virus is going around. Websites like these are just trying to get victims to purchase their products. Oh look start in safe mode and download this and that to get rid of it!! How about no? How about I restart in safe mode and then do a system restore to a point where the virus wasn’t there. That’s it… Its not a long or complicated process folks, and you don’t need to spend any money.

  17. Tristan

I activated it using the masky code above disabled the settings in the virus then ran Advanced System Care and cleaned my computer off

  18. Danni

I had it on my laptop and started in safe mode and restored to 2 days beforehand.
This seems to have done the job, I can’t see Live Security Platinum anymore.
Is this enough to get rid off the virus or is still lingering in my laptop?
Do I need to do anything else?
I have McAfee installed, which didn’t help (didn’t detect it).
