Win32/Patched.CG Virus

My antivirus keeps on detecting a Win32/Patched.CG virus on
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\atapi.sys
I was not able to remove it since my resident shield don’t have this option. I can only ignore it. Please help me remove this Win32/Patched.CG virus.

I have the same problem and wonder if it is related to using AVG version 9.

I have the Win32/patched.CG issue as well. I also have AVG 9.0 and think it’s related. Any ideas?

I also have this problem. Reading up on it, it appears to be some sort of program allowing spammers access. AVG 9.0 says it cant remove it because it is attached to critical program files. can anyone help?

I had the same problem but was able to get rid of it. I removed the hard drive from the infected laptop and then, using an external hard drive adapter, I connected it to my other computer via the USB port.
I ran my Symantec antivirus program (twice) along with MalwareBytes and SpyBot. The Symantec program found 7 viruses and 4 Trojan Horse problems and the got rid of them all.

Seems like when the infected hard drive is running Windows, it prevents complete removal of the infected files but slaving the hard drive to another computer allows access to those files because Windows is not runninig on the slaved drive.

    Hope this helps!
