Remove Wajam Virus

Hello. I join this forum to open a discussion about Wajam virus. I have no idea how it enters my PC. I have done several things to get it out of my computer but no luck. First time this Wajam appears, it overrides the home page of my Internet Explorer. Then, Wajam new tab opens when I run Google Chrome.

Please help me remove Wajam from my computer. I did not install it and I want to get rid of it as soon as possible. Virus scanning on the computer doesn’t seem to work. AVG and Malwarebytes do not detect Wajam. What are other tools I can use to get rid of this virus? Please help me.

Hi, first of all, you must understand that Wajam is not a virus or some kind of computer infection. It is a tool for social search. If it may have got into your computer without your acceptance, then, it can be considered as adware. Anyway, to remove Wajam from your computer, please follow these steps.

    Remove Wajam from Windows:

Using uninstall link from the program.
    1. Open Windows “Start” menu.
    2. Select “All Programs” to see the list of installed software.
    3. Open the Wajam folder to see all contents.
    4. Click “Uninstall”. This action automatically removes Wajam from the computer.

    Via Windows Control Panel.
    1. Open “Start” menu, and then click on “Control Panel”
    2. Click “Programs”, and then “Add/Remove” or “Uninstall”
    4. Select “Wajam” from the list of software.
    5. Right-Click and select “Uninstall” or simply use the button at the top of the page.

    Uninstall Wajam from Mac OSx:
    Chrome
    1. Open the Chrome “Settings” menu
    2. Open “Extensions”
    3. Click on the “Trash” icon

    Firefox
    1. Open the “Tools” menu
    2. Select “Add-ons”
    3. Click “Remove”

    Safari
    1. Open the “Preferences” menu
    2. Select the “Extensions” tab
    3. Click “Uninstall”

Sorry, but this does not work. All it does is remove the VISIBLE COMPONENTS. Then it simply renews itself the next time you start up. I’ve seen these removal instructions all around, and it is a HOAX. It will take more than this to get rid of it!!! I think I’ll try Anvi Soft. You can be sure I’ll be back to update my progress at removing this crap from my computer!!!!!

The above procedure works in removing components of Wajam. However, it is not complete. After completing the procedure, run a scan of adwcleaner and that will remove remaining malicious items.

About Anvisoft, that is not a free program. You need to spend in order to get it working. The point is, does it really works? I have heard several negative feedbacks about the program.

WAJAM is spyware no doubt about it. It did get into my computer without permission. Its not a social search blahblahblah as it claims to be it just got into your device to steal your personal info. It infuriates me how the guys at wajam go to every website spouting the social search nonsense. LIARS

I noticed that WAJAM was on my computer, I NEVER downloaded. So since reading your comment, Captain, I have now deleted. Thanks Pat

For driving downloads it colludes with other shady programs or appears as freebie with legitimate software.
