Mystart.Incredibar.com Hijacks Google Chrome

Hi, I am struggling with a browser hijacker called MyStart By Incredibar. It redirects my Google Chrome to its own web site like mystart.incredibar.com incredibargames.com. This thing started after I have installed a program called Ilivid. All the while, I thought it was useful software. I have no idea that it will cause a lot of trouble on my computer. It is too late now. My Google Chrome is already infected with Mystart by Incredibar.

I just hope that some members from this forum can help with this virus. I have an antivirus program installed but it didn’t detect the infiltration. Right after the virus appears, I run a full scan on my computer hoping that it can clean it, but nothing happens. Antivirus founds zero threat. Do you have any suggestion to remove Mystart.Incredibar.com hijacker and toolbar from my Google Chrome?

Thanks in advance.

  • MyStart by IncrediBar comes bundled with freeware and shareware programs. Most of the time, it allows you to select the add-ons that you wish to install.

IncrediBar toolbar can be uninstalled just by going to Control Panel and selecting Add/Remove Programs.

How to uninstall mystart.incredimail.com from Google Chrome:
    1. Click on Customize and control Google Chrome icon. Go to Tools > Extensions.

    2. Select IncrediBar and remove
    3. Then reset the home page and search engine by following steps.
    1. Click on the icon ‘Customize and control Google Chrome’, select ‘settings.
    2. Click the ‘Manage search engine’ button and choose ‘Google’ and make it your default search engine. Then remove MyStart Search.
    3. To set a home page, Click the wrench icon on the browser toolbar and Select Settings. Under Appearance, put a tick mark on Show Home button and change the home page. Also set Open specific pages when you open Chrome. Go to the “On startup” section and click “Set pages” to enter the web addresses.

  • Just uninstall the program from add on and run a good anti-virus software.

  • Thanks! Following Andy’s steps worked. I had not done step 3:

    3. To set a home page, Click the wrench icon on the browser toolbar and Select Settings. Under Appearance, put a tick mark on Show Home button and change the home page. Also set Open specific pages when you open Chrome. Go to the “On startup” section and click “Set pages” to enter the web addresses.

  • YES I FOUND IT if you have google chrome click the wrench icon in the upper right hands corner of the page get rid of mysearch and new tab or something by pressing the “X” icon thank god..

  • Hi Donna,

Yes i had the same issue with incredibar..I came across a guy by the name of Wayne who helped me alot and thought i’ll help out other people the way he helped me out..

Click on the wrench on the top right hand corner..scroll down to settings..click on it..your see under chrome on the left side displaying..History, Extensions, Settings..Click on Extensions..click on new tab and delete..hope this helps you out as it did for me..

  • Thanks @Matt your suggestion was the most effective..

  • I went onto extensions and disabled SweetPacks Chrome Extension, I don’t know how to delete it but whenever it comes back up I just go onto that. Hope that helps :)

  • I’ve tried removing Incredibar and its components in the ways mentioned above and I reset my settings. I run Google Chrome version Version 24.0.1312.52 m so there isn’t a wrench in the corner, there are three parallel horizontal bars. I managed to remove Incredibar from the Control Panel and I ran MalwareBytes AND Spybot. However I’m now getting an intermittent message from Chrome saying it can’t find MyStart. The worst thing is that it doesn’t do it all the time so I can’t tell when it’s going to happen.

  • Go to extensions & remove these two apps:
    1) Mystart
    2) New Tab

  • I REMOVED chrome from my machine. I uninstalled, installed, uninstalled, installed, over and over agoan AFTER removing the Incrdibar crap from my machine. NO LUCK!!! Every time I opened a new tab, that Incredibar crap came up on me!!!!!!

  • Hi, I’ve had the same problem since downloading an MP3 downloader from Amazon.
I’ve carried out all the steps that Andy mentioned and still no use – when I go into the extensions Incredibar isn’t even showing up!
I uninstalled Google Chrome and re-installed it, to no avail.
Earlier I downloaded SpyBot and it did a full scan of my computer and found 11 malware items, one of which was MyStart by Incredibar. It deleted it and the others when I clicked ‘Fix the problems’ yet, after restarting my laptop, and opening Google Chrome AGAIN the first tab is MyStart by Incredibar. I don’t know what else to do…

  • Me again :) … I’ve just gone into Google Chrome’s Settings and on to ‘On Start up’. I always have ‘open the new tab page’ highlighted but it had changed itself to ‘open a specific page or set of pages’. When I clicked on ‘Set pages’ (blue tab next to it) there it was… MyStart by Incredibar! I clicked the x beside it and now hope that that’s the end of the matter…

  • NOPE! I’ve done yet another clean by Spybot, and I’m still getting MyStart.
Does anyone else think that the only way round this is to avoid using Google Chrome? It would be a shame if it is.
