Help me remove Sweetpacks Search and Toolbar

My IE and Firexfox are infected with Sweetpacks. Home page is now showing the Sweetpacks search and is redirected to http://search.sweetpacks.com. The Sweetpacks toolbar that is installed on my browser shows pop-up advertisements from time-to-time. This thing is very annoying.

I am fool to download a tool called 1click downloader. After installing the said malware, the Sweetpacks thing started to control my computer. It has cause the system to slow down. I can say that browsing the Internet gradually opens the page I wanted to view. I also made changes on the browser but it still redirects to http://search.sweetpacks.com.

Can someone on this forum help me remove Sweetpacks Search and Toolbar? I already removed 1click downloader but this one still exists. Probably, they are installed separately. What security measures do you suggest so that I will never have an encounter with Sweetpacks again.

Hoping for timely help regarding this virus.

  • I had a similar problem with sweetpacks; I just couldn’t get rid of it. I found a combination of malwarebytes and regseeker (wonderful!) worked perfectly, and both are free downloads.

  • Peter, you didn’t list the combination of malwarebytes and regseeker which worked perfectly,

  • Change all your home pages and search options back, uninstall from the add/remove Programs and download and update Spybot S&D and run. That will clear it up.

  • On Firefox- Open new tab – Tools – Options – General – Restore to Default.
Avoid anything Microsoft: XPMSC, XP Wud 0 1000 ), Media Player, Net. Framework1.1
